Irish Graves is the resting place of photographs of the graves of over 1,000 men and women who have made a significant contribution to the historical, political, social, cultural, economic, scientific and sporting life of Ireland.

This cemetery is open to heroes, villains and all those who have experienced their fifteen minutes of fame.

There are thousands more who should be represented here. These graves are located all over Ireland, Europe and the rest of the world.

If you know the grave location of other men and women who are not listed in the A-Z or the Pending section and who you think should be included in this site, please let me know. Better still if you can provide a photo and short biography.

Help bring them together and create the Irish Pantheon.

This website is based on two books by Ray Bateson The End - An Illustrated Guide to the Graves of Irish Writers and Dead and Buried in Dublin. Finally the other 400 graves of historic Irish figures that Ray has photographed over the years will be laid to rest here.

There is much additional information on the deaths, graves and funerals of many of the entries. It is lavishly illustrated with nearly 500 colour photographs and 8 maps. The book received a grant from the Heritage Council of Ireland under the 2004 Publications Grant Scheme.
