James Patrick Carney 1914-1989
Born
in Portlaoise, County Laois. He held various posts in the School of Celtic
Studies in the Institute of Advanced Studies including that of Senior
Professor. He edited Poems on the Butlers of Ormond, Cahir and Dunboyne
and Poems on the O’Reillys. He published essays, translations and other
