Sigerson Clifford 1913-1985 Born in Cork. He worked as a civil servant in Dublin and wrote poetry, stories, radio scripts and plays. His works include The Great Pacificator, The Red-haired Woman, Death Sails the Shannon (with W.MacLysaght), Travelling Tinkers and Ballads of a Bogman. He is buried in Caherciveen. There is a memorial to Sigerson Clifford just beside Bridge Street.
