Padraic Colum 1881-1972 Born in Longford. He was a poet and playwright whose works include The Land, The Fiddler’s House and Thomas Muskerry. His Collected Poems was published in 1953. He also wrote the lyrics for She Moved through the Fair and Cradle Song. He moved to America in 1914 and lived the rest of his life there. He died in Connecticut. The Colums are buried in Dublin.
