Edward Dowden 1843-1913 Born in Cork. He became Professor of English Literature in Trinity College Dublin 1867. He wrote several important books on Shakespeare including Shakespeare, A Critical Study of His Mind and Art. Other works include biographies of Southey, Shelley, Browning and Montaigne, volumes of poems and a History of French Literature. He is buried in Dublin. His second wife Elizabeth Dickinson West c. 1840-1932, wrote under the pseudonym of E.D.W. Her works include Verses and Verses, Part 2.
