John D’Alton 1792-1867
Born in County Westmeath. He graduated from Trinity College Dublin and became a barrister. He was the author of The History of the County of Dublin, History of Drogheda, Memoirs of the Archbishops of Dublin, The History of Dundalk, Illustrations, historical and genealogical, of King James II’s Irish Army List, 1689 and The History of Ireland from the Earliest Period to 1245. He is buried in Dublin.
