George Darley 1795-1846 Born in Dublin. He left Dublin for London in 1820 in order to become a writer. Although he wrote stories he is better remembered, for his poetry. His best known work is Nepenthe. Other works include The Errors of Ecstasie, Sylvia, or the May Queen and Thomas à Beckett: A Dramatic Chronicle. Darley was also a mathematician and published popular textbooks such as Popular Algebra and Familiar Astronomy. He is buried in London.
