Thomas Dermody 1775-1802

Born in Ennis, County Clare. He had his first book of poems published when he was just 17 years old. However, his drinking lost him friends and sponsors. He joined the army but when he returned to London, he resumed his old way of life which eventually killed him. He died in poverty in Kent in 1802. His works were collected under the title The Harp of Erin. He is buried in London.
