John Foley 1818-1874

Born in Dublin. Sculptor whose works include the statues of Grattan, Burke and Goldsmith in College Green; Lord Ardilaun in St Stephens Green; Sir Benjamin Lee Guinness near the south porch of St Patrickís Cathedral; Marsh, Corrigan and Stokes in the Royal College of Physicians; Father Matthew in Cork and other statues in Birr, Tuam and Lisburn.

He is buried in St. Paulís Cathedral, London. The stone on the floor simply reads John Henry Foley RA Sculptor.

The exact location is in the crypt, Chapel South L8, which is situated to the right of the OBE chapel as you look at it. This area is not open to the public.
