J(ames) G(ordan) Farrell 1935-1979 Born in Liverpool. He was a teacher for a number of years in France. His works include A Man from Elsewhere, Troubles, The Siege of Krishnapur (which won the Booker Prize), The Singapore Grip and The Hill Station. He died in a drowning accident in County Cork. He is buried in County Cork.
