Percy Fitzgerald 1834-1925 Born in Fane Valley, County Louth. He was a painter and sculptor as well as a writer. He wrote over 200 books including Bella Donna or The Cross Before the Name and biographies on Irving, Sterne, Garrick, Johnson and Lamb. His sculpture lasted a little longer than his books and these include a statue of Dr Johnson in the Strand, at St Clement Danes church and a statue of Boswell at Lichfield. He is buried in Dublin.
