James Henry 1798-1876

Born in Dublin. He was a doctor with a love for the classics from an early age. He wrote copiously but is best remembered for his work in translating Virgil’s Aeneid. A legacy allowed him to give up medicine and he travelled all over Europe searching out manuscripts. He is buried in Glendruid Cemetery near Cabinteely, Dublin.
