John Hogan 1800-1858 He was a sculptor born in Tallow, County Waterford. He spent twenty-five years in Rome where he was befriended by a Senor Gentili. He came back to live in Dublin. His works include the statue of O’Connell, Thomas Davis and Drummond in City Hall, Dr Doyle in Carlow Cathedral and the Dead Christ beneath the altar of the Catholic church in Clarendon Street in Dublin. He is buried not far from where Father Gentili was originally interred. He is buried in Dublin.
