Michael Hartnett 1941-1999 Born in Croom, County Limerick. His early work was in English and includes Anatomy of a Cliché, The Hag of Beare and Gipsy Ballads. He grew more confident in Irish and in 1975 he wrote A Farewell to English. For the next ten years he wrote only in Irish but after that he published again in English. His work includes Inchicore Haiku, An Lia Nocht, A Necklace of Wrens, Poems to Younger Women and An Damh-Mhac. He is buried in County Limerick.
