The Invincibles

The Invincibles took part in the assassination of Lord Cavendish and T.H. Burke in Phoenix Park in 1882. Five of them were hung in Kilmainham Gaol

They are buried beneath the flagstones in the courtyard. The above photograph shows the place in the wall where the gallows beam was placed.
