Born in Liverpool. Big Jim Larkin organised the workers of Dublin to strike and fight against exploitation in 1913. He helped found the I.T.G.W.U. and later the Workers Union of Ireland. He was elected to Dublin Corporation on numerous occasions and was elected to the Dáil 1927-1932 and again 1937-8. There is a statue of him by Oisín Kelly in O’Connell Street Dublin. He is buried in Dublin.
