Mary Lavin 1912-1996 Born in Walpole
Massachusetts. She went to school in Dublin and attended University
College Dublin. Her first collection of short stories, Tales from Bective
Bridge, won the James Tait Black Memorial Prize. Other collections
followed and established her as one of the finest
