Charles James Lever
1806-1872
Born in Dublin. He
became a doctor and practised
medicine in several Irish towns. He also
wrote over 30 books which include Harry Lorrequer, Charles O’Malley and
The Martins of Cro’Martin. He went to Brussels and became British
Consul
in a number of cities before his final appointment to Trieste where he
died. He continued to write until his death although his later novels were
somewhat bleaker than his earlier work.
He is buried in Trieste, Italy.
