Clive Staples Lewis 1898-1963

Born in Belfast. A critic and writer, he spent most of his working life in Oxford. His critical works include The Allegory of Love, which won the Hawthornden Prize and English Literature in the Sixteenth Century excluding Drama. The Screwtape Letters was among his books on religion and The Chronicles of Narnia is a seven volume series of books for children. His autobiographical Surprised by Joy later inspired the film Shadowlands. His novels include Out of the Silent Planet and Perelandra. He is buried in Oxfordshire.
