Seán Ó Coileáin 1754-1817
Born
in County Cork. He was a schoolmaster and one of the last of the poets of
the old tradition. He is remembered mostly for two poems An Buachaill Bán
and Machtnamh an Duine Dhoilíosaigh. The latter is a lament on the ruins
of Timoleague Abbey. He is buried in Kilmeen. Also buried in the same cemetery is the local poet and
author, J.J. Calnan 1874 - 1929 –
