Sylvester O’Halloran 1728-1807 Born
in Limerick. He helped to found the County Limerick Infirmary. He wrote
important works on glaucoma and gangrene as well as historical works.
These include A New Treatise on the Glaucoma or Cataract, Proposals for
the Advancement of Surgery in Ireland (which led to the setting up of the
Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland),
An Introduction to the Study of the History and Antiquities of Ireland, A
General History of Ireland and Ierne
