Ernie O’Malley 1898-1957
Born in Castlebar, County Mayo. He fought in the Easter Rising and the War of Independence. His book On Another Man’s Wound recorded the events of that latter period and was widely praised for its literary merits. He took the anti-Treaty side and was severely wounded. His other works include The Singing Flame and Raid and Rallies. He is buried in Dublin.
