Richard Rowley
1877-1947

Born
Richard Valentine Williams in Belfast. After the collapse of the family
business in 1931 he became Chairman of the Assistance Board. He founded
the Mourne Press which published works by Michael McLaverty, Sam Hanna
Bell, Forrest Reid and by himself. His works include The City of Refuge,
Ballads of Mourne and Apollo in Mourne. He is buried in Belfast.
