Major Charles Sirr 1764-1841 Born in Dublin Castle, he was the son of an army officer. He was head of police in 1798. He arrested Emmet, Fitzgerald and Russell. He lived the rest of his life in Dublin Castle and is buried just around the corner from the Castle in the churchyard of St Werburgh’s. |
