Dora Sigerson Shorter 1866-1918 Born in Dublin. She was the daughter of George Sigerson. She wrote over a dozen books of poetry and two novels, all very much influenced by the nationalist spirit of the time. While she was popular in her day, her work is largely forgotten today. Her works include The Tri-colour: Poems of the Irish Revolution, The Fairy Changeling, Madge Linsey and Love of Ireland: Poems and Ballads. Several more volumes were published after her death. She designed the 1916 pieta style memorial in Glasnevin Cemetery. She is buried close to her father.
