James Stephens
1880/1882-1950

Born in Dublin. He
claimed he was born on 2nd February 1882, the same birth date as James
Joyce. He was a poet, novelist and short story writer and in his later
years his radio talks earned him great popularity. He is best known for
The Charwoman’s Daughter, The Crock of Gold
and Here are Ladies. The
Insurrection in Dublin was his eyewitness account of the events of the
Easter Rising of 1916. Other works include Etched in Moonlight, The Demi-Gods, Reincarnations, Deirdre and Kings and the Moon.
He is buried in London.
