Sam Thompson
1916-1965

Born in Belfast. He
worked in Belfast shipyard but became a playwright, his most famous play
being Over the Bridge. The play was not staged for a few years because of
its content which exposed the sectarianism in the shipyard. Other works
include The Evangelist and Cemented with Love.
He is buried in Belfast.
