Reverend Richard
Chenevix Trench 1807-1886

Born
in Dublin. He was a philologist and poet. His works in both fields went
into many editions. He was ordained in 1833 and was Dean of Westminster
Abbey 1856-1864 and Archbishop of Dublin 1864-1884. The project that
became The Oxford English Dictionary was begun at his suggestion. His
works include Study of Words, English Past and Present, Justin Martyr and
Poems from Eastern Sources. He is buried in London.
