Luke Wadding 1588-1657
Born in Waterford.
He established the College of San Isodore for Irish Franciscans in Rome
and the Ludovisi College for Irish secular clergy. His major work was an
eight-volume history of the Franciscan order – Annales Minorum. He also
edited the works of Duns Scotus. He is buried in Rome. There are a number of memorials to him in the church. The marble plaque is in the floor of the church at the entrance to the sanctuary. There are two others directly below in the crypt. One is shown on the left and the other one has a practically illegible inscription. Photos by Father John Laverone
