William John (Jack)
White 1920-1980

Born
in Cork. He worked with the Irish Times for over 20 years. He was also a
broadcaster and worked in various posts in RTÉ before becoming Controller
of Television Programmes 1974-77. He wrote radio scripts, plays, a number
of novels and a study on Protestants in the Republic of Ireland. His works
include One for the Road, The Devil You Know, The Last Eleven and Minority
Report. He died in Stuttgart while attending a conference. He is buried in Dublin.
