Chaim Herzog
1918-1997
Born in Belfast. His
family moved to Dublin a year after his birth and then emigrated to Palestine in
1935. He fought with the British in the Second World War and after that he held
various ranks in the Israeli army. He later served as a diplomat. He became a
member of the Labour Party and was elected President of Israel 1983-1993. He is
buried in Jerusalem.
