Dusty Springfield 1939-1999
She was born Mary O’Brien in London,
England. A popular music singer with the Springfields in the early 1960’s. Her
career was revived in 1987 by the Pet Shop Boys and she was awarded an OBE, but
she died of cancer before she was able to accept it.
She was cremated. A plaque was placed over
some of the ashes in St Mary’s Church in Henly-on-Thames. Her remaining ashes
were scattered over the Cliffs of Moher, County Clare by her brother Tom.
