Father John Gowan 1817-1897

Born in Skerries, County Dublin.He established, with Margaret Aylward, St Brigids Orphanage which operated a boarding out system. The Sisters of the Holy Faith was founded by Margaret and Father Gowan. He is buried close to her in the cemetery at Aylward House , Glasnevin, Dublin.
