Joe Cahill 1920-2004

A lifelong Republican, he was a member of the IRA gang that was sentenced to death for the killing of a policeman in 1942.  Only Tom Williams was hanged and Cahill was released in 1949. He was one of the founders of the Provisional IRA movement and was a supporter of the peace process.
