King James II 1633-1701
King of England from 1685-1688. He is
remembered in Ireland chiefly for his defeat at the Battle of the Boyne in 1690.
His remains are scattered: Entrails in the church of St Germain en Laye,
Yvelines, France; part to
the English College at St Omer; brains to Scots college at Paris; heart at Chaillot; remains in Church of English Benedictine monks in Paris despoiled at
French Revolution.
