Tomas MacCurtain 1884-1920 Born in Ballyknockane, County Cork. He was the first republican Mayor of Cork. He was shot dead in his home. The killing was attributed to the RIC by the coroner’s jury. He is buried in the Republican Plot, St FinBarres Cemetery, Cork
